Sai Wan Ho Civic Centre (SWHCC) located at Hong Kong East, opened in 1987 and managed by Leisure and Cultural Service Department (LCSD) at present. The main facilities include Theatre, Cultural Activities Hall and URBTIX Box Office. To promote the arts in the community, LCSD had started the Venue Partnership Scheme since April 2009. The present partner is Absolutely Fabulous Theatre Connection (AFTEC). SWHCC is situated above Sai Wan Ho MTR station, with 1 minute walking distance from Exit B. There are also several bus / minibus routes pass through, connecting Hong Kong and Kowloon districts. To cooperate the Eastern development and promotion of arts and cultural activities, government planned to construct a community arts arena since early 1980s. SWHCC was opened in 1987 and managed by Urban Council (Became Provisional Urban Council after the Return). Since the reorganization of government in 2000, SWHCC became managed by new established Leisure and Cultural Service Department.
To enhance the facilities, a construction to upgrade PA and sound systems of Cultural Activities Hall was completed in 2009. Besides, the rebuilding of Theatre is also started in 2013.
Theatre is a traditional proscenium theatre located on 1/F with 471 seats. There are movable proscenium side panel to reduce the frame dimension when necessary. It is mainly used for music, drama, dance and assembly performance.
Cultural Activities Hall located on 2/F provides 230 sq.m area with 110 movable seats, which is suitable for lecture, seminar, exhibition, rehearsal and simple setting performances.
Besides, SWHCC also provides Music Practice Rooms and two Art Studios for citizens or groups, providing venues for rehearsals or small visual art performances.
