The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA) established in 1984, which is the only tertiary institution established for arts performances in Hong Kong. HKAPA has 5 school, providing training courses, professional undergraduate education and practice-based postgraduate studies in Dance, Drama, Film and Television, Music, Theatre and Entertainment Arts, and Chinese Traditional Theatre. The Academy located on the Wanchai waterfront, where the site was provided by the Hong Kong Government, which meets the annual capital and recurrent costs of the Academy. The Hong Kong Academy For Performing Arts has been training arts performance talent for Hong Kong since its opening in 1985. Besides, HKAPA provides high-class performance venues for the productions of its students, and also frequently invited renowned local and international music, dance and theater troupes to visit for performances.
1,181-seat Lyric has a wide stage with 30m x 16m area, which is the largest venue in HKAPA. It is used for large opera, theatre, drama and complex show in general, it is also used for international conference and film-making.
Drama Theatre provides 415 seats and a conventional proscenium, it is mainly designed for music opera, dance performances and lectures.
Concert Hall has a maximum audience capacity of 382. It features adjustable acoustics and a 44-stop Rieger pipe organ specially.
Recital Hall has flexible seating with 134-202 seats. Its professional audio-visual facilities provide good condition for music performance and lecture.
Studio Theatre also provide flexible seatings, which is mainly used for smaller lectures, seminars, film and drama. Its maximum audience capacity is 120.
