Tuen Mun Town Hall Information

Tuen Mun Town Hall is currently managed by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), close to Tuen Mun MTR Station and Tuen Mun Town Centre, whereas just 2 minutes walks from the Town Centre Stop of Light Rail.

TMTH was opened in May 1987, however, its design is very similar with Sha Tin Town Hall that opened in the same year. Major facilities include the Auditorium, Cultural Activities Hall and Exhibition Hall. TMTH also offer Lecture Rooms, Dance Studio, etc, for organisations and the public hiring. To promote the arts in the community, LCSD had started the Venue Partnership Scheme since April 2009. The present partners are Spring-Time Experimental Theatre and Hong Kong Young Talent Cantonese Opera Troupe.

The programme of Tuen Mun Town Hall Cultural Activities Hall and Auditorium usually start at 2pm-3pm or 7pm-8pm. Major programme include concerts, musical dramas, Chinese Opera and variety shows. More about Tuen Mun Town Hall

To cooperate the development of North-West New Territories, and the promotion of arts and cultural activities, government planned to construct a community arts venue since early 1980s. However, Tuen Mun Town Hall was opened by British Princess Dianna in 1987, which is managed by Regional Council (Changed to Provisional Regional Council after the Transfer of Sovereignty in 1997). Since the reorganization of government in 2000, TMTH became managed by new established Leisure and Cultural Services Department.

To enhance the facilities, renovation works were performed in 2006 and 2012, renewing the facilities of Auditorium, including the stage floor, seats, acoustic shell.

Proscenium theatre designed Auditorium provides 1,372 seats, including 1,032-seat stall and 340-seat balcony. It can cater for orchestral concerts, drama, Chinese operas, dance and assembly performances. Hirers can also remove seats to set an orchestra pit, which can accommodate 70 musicians. Cultural Activities Hall provide 290 movable seats, used for drama, mini-concert, seminars and small assembly performances.

However, Exhibition Gallery is suitable for exhibition, seminars and small-scale productions, which has 200-person capacity. Other facilities include conference room, dance studio, music studio and practice rooms, providing venues for meetings, seminars, rehearsals and small visual-arts performances.
