Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital, TWAH is a private non-profit hospital under the Seventh-day Adventist Church. It had been serving Tsuen Wan district since May 1964, which is the first private hospital in New Territories. However, the Church is also operating Hong Kong Adventist Hospital situated in Wanchai Mid-Level. TWAH currently has 133 beds and mainly provides services include obstetrics, various in-patients / day-case services, clinical laboratory, and out-patient services. Other services include Invasive Center, health assessment and diagnostic imaging services. To cooperate with the increasing demand and population, TWAH is constructing a new building. The construction will be completed in early 2015, where the number of beds will be increased from 133 to 450. The new building can enhance the equipments and facilities, including new operating rooms, new specialist centers, and also strengthen preventive medicine and health examination services. Seventh-day Adventist Church is the organization that established and operating Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital, which was founded since 1863 in USA. The Church currently contains 13 divisions and 130 Union Missions, where Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan regions is managed by "Chinese Union Mission (CHUM)" under the "Northern Asia-Pacific Division". CHUM is currently operating three medical institutions, including "Hong Kong Adventist Hospital", "Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital" and "Taiwan Adventist Hospital."
The Church invited Dr. Harry Miller to construct hospital for Hong Kong in 1960s. With the help of HKJC, churches, government, USA and the community, TWAH was opened in 1964. Until 1971, another hospital located at Hong Kong Island was also opened - Hong Kong Adventist Hospital.
In 2012, both Hong Kong Adventist Hospital and Tsuen Wan Adventist Hospital has joined 'WHO CC Evidence-Based Health Promotion Hospitals', becoming first 2 hospitals joined this network.
