Grand Peace Funeral Parlour is the only government tender funeral parlour in Hong Kong. The funeral parlour is the former Hung Hom Public Funeral Parlour, however, the operational form had been changed to government tender since 2002, where five years per a tender agreement period. The first two contracts were awarded Perpetual Funeral Parlour and Sai Sing Funeral Parlour in 2002 and 2007 respectively. South China Memorial Park & Funeral Service Limited, the current operator of Grand Peace Funeral Parlour, had obtained the right for the period from 2012 to 2017 at a total rental of $278 million. In accordance with the Agreement signed, Grand Peace Funeral Parlour shall provide low-cost basic funeral services to the needy. Grand Peace Funeral Parlour has five stories with 21 halls. The largest hall are halls 101 & 102, with a 120-guest capacity respectively. There are total seven halls on G/F & 3/F, which can accommodate 120 people respectively. Halls on 4/F & 5/F with smaller capacity can respectively accommodate 50 people. Halls on 5/F are the "Quiet Zone", providing facilities include pulpit and electric organ, only used for performing Christian or Catholic rituals. Grand Peace Funeral Parlour is the former Hung Hom Public Funeral Hall owned by Hong Kong government opened in 1978. It was renamed to Hung Hom Public Funeral Parlour in 1983. The Designation of Public Funeral Hall Order was also promulgated, ordering it was the only public funeral hall and providing low-cost funeral services. However, owing to the persistent low utilization rate, the operational form changed to government tender since year 2002. Every five year would be an operation period.

parlours had increased by 30% to 50%. The Funeral Business Association responded to the media's enquiry that casket services firms and other businesses in the sector were under pressure to raise prices.
In accordance with the Agreement signed by the Government and Grand Peace Funeral Parlour, Grand Peace Funeral Parlour shall provide low-cost basic funeral services to the needy. The low-cost funeral services shall cover a basic, essential and complete service for the disposal of a dead body, including but not limited to the transport of the dead body from the hospital or mortuary to the Funeral Parlour, procurement of a coffin for the dead body, conduct of funeral ceremony at the Funeral Parlour, delivery of the dead body from the Funeral Parlour to the final disposal site and the cremation fee. Besides, The Cemeteries and Crematoria (Application for Permit) Offices of Food and Environmental Hygiene Department is located in UG/F of funeral parlour.
